The untouched crown jewel of Raja Ampat, where rare wildlife, rainforest, and reef converge in one unforgettable charter.
The King of Kings in Raja Ampat
Also known as Ambrei or Waihui, Waigeo Island is situated in Southwest Papua, Indonesia. It is the largest island in the Raja Ampat archipelago.. Raja Ampat is known to be one of the world's last natural frontiers, with its immense collection of wildlife, untouched rainforests, emerald cliffs, and pristine white beaches. Unlike other destinations, much of Waigeo remains unexplored, offering an exclusive retreat for those seeking adventure and tranquillity in equal measure.
A yacht journey to Waigeo typically begins from Sorong, the main gateway to Raja Ampat. From here, cruise toward Mayalibit Bay, a vast Marine Protected Area surrounded by fjord-like mountains, where the warm waters are home to rare marine species, including the elusive white dolphin and mighty crocodiles. Just a stone's throw away, Waiwo Beach offers thrilling diving excursions, with opportunities to swim with blacktip and whitetip reef sharks gently swimming around. Inland Waigeo has incredible waterfalls and hidden jungle trails, which are ideal for a hiking trip. Other excursions include birdwatching the famed red birds-of-paradise and experiencing the cultural performance "Suling Tambur" in North Waigeo.
Travelling to the south of the island, Waigeo's charming villages provide a glimpse into Indonesian island life. Locals here are passionate about conservation, with ongoing efforts to protect sea turtle nesting sites and preserve the rich biodiversity of Raja Ampat. At Urbinasopen Village, a rare sight occurs: the "Sea Ghost" phenomenon. This spectacle can only be observed at the end of the year. It is a phenomenon where light emerges from the oceans for a brief moment, vanishing and reappearing only at the end of the following year.
Waigeo is inviting you to dive among pygmy seahorses, trek through ancient rainforests, and sail through island-dotted waterways that feel utterly secluded. Charter now with our Luxury Yacht Charters Available.
