The pride of Africa, a kingdom of endless plains and wonders.
Tanzania: Soul of Africa
Boasting 503 miles of stunning coastline, unparalleled cultural richness, breathtaking scenery, and, of course, unmatched wildlife. It is a dream destination everyone wants to cross off their bucket lists. Tanzania is the inspiration for “The Lion King.” Experience real-life “Hakuna Matata,” or live without worries by sailing through its glistening waters and indulging in luxury. Feel the thrilling and inspiring adventure by taking a safari in its vast savanna and hiking its highest peak. Everything that light touches in Tanzania promises an unforgettable yachting experience.
It has fine white sand beaches, lively and colourful reefs, and quaint fishing villages. On shore, it has seven UNESCO World Heritage Sites, including Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Kilimanjaro, Kilwa Kisiwani, Kondoa, Selous Game Reserve, and Zanzibar. The country is also known for its deep-rooted Swahili culture. It seamlessly blends oceanic adventures, extraordinary landscapes, and cultural discovery.
Zanzibar is a yachting haven for both sailors and adventure seekers. It is also known as the "Spice Island," thanks to its wealth of cloves, nutmeg, pepper, and cinnamon. It is home to Stone Town, one of the UNESCO World Heritage Sites, dotted with stunning Arabian, Persian, and European architecture. Close to its shores are the Mafia Islands, known for its marine park that beckons snorkellers and divers. With a dazzling display of coral reefs, sea turtles, tropical fish, and the most exciting to meet, the whale sharks. North of Tanzania’s Swahili Coast is the island of Pemba, with several hidden coves that offer a quieter retreat and an equally stunning underwater escapade.
Venture inland at Saadani National Park, and witness its unique convergence of savanna and the sea, the only place in the world where this happens. Straight out of the yacht, head ashore to spot elephants, lions, and giraffes. However, the greatest treasure in Tanzania lies at Serengeti National Park, home to the greatest migration of wild animals, and Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest free-standing mountain in the world. Ngorongoro Crater also offers a spectacular experience with its thriving ecosystem, especially the 500 bird species, including flamingos frolicking in its soda lakes. Arrange an excursion to see these iconic lands and experience the amazing African wilderness.
Bagamoyo and Pangani are two historical coastal towns that are also worth visiting. Pangani is known for two ancient Swahili ruins: Muhembo and Tongoni ruins. Bagamoyo is home to the Kaole Ruins and was once a significant trading hub. Another gem is the Olduvai Gorge, known as the "Cradle of Mankind." This archaeological site provides an engrossing look back into humanity's early history.
Although dhow boats are more common along the Swahili coast, various luxury yachts, such as motor yachts, sailing yachts, or catamarans, are available for hire. If you are interested in exploring Tanzania, explore our luxury yacht charters.
When?
Time your yacht charters during Tanzania's dry season, between June and October, when the weather is dry, sunny, and the seas are calm. For a truly unforgettable experience, visit between October and March to swim with gentle whale sharks as they pass through during their annual migration.
