Piaynemo Island Yacht Charter
One of Raja Ampat’s Most Photographed Gems, Known for Its Crystal-Clear Lagoons and Vibrant Dive Sites
A star island that is hard to miss
The name Pianemo or Piaynemo means “the connection between harpoon head and shaft” due to the small narrow strip connecting the two main sides of the island. Pianemo is located within the Raja Ampat archipelago, more specifically, the Wayag Islands. It is famous for its Pianemo Hill, where a panoramic view of the scattered limestone hills that surround the area can be seen. More than that, Pianemo also offers secluded crystal-clear lagoons and incredible diving sites. Yachting here isn't just a journey, it’s an immersion into one of nature‘s rawest and most beautiful landscapes.
Most yachting trips and itineraries to Pianemo Islands start at Sorong, the gateway to Raja Ampat, and then to Waigeo Island, the biggest island in Raja Ampat. Other yachting destinations that are usually included in the itinerary are Wayag Island, another cluster of karst islets, before making their way to Pianemo.
However, what sets Pianemo apart from the rest of the Raja Ampat islands is its impeccable Star Lagoon, a naturally occurring star-shaped lagoon visible from above. To see the whole island in a bird’s eye view, it is recommended to hike towards Pianemo Hill, a 40-meter-high peak accessible via a 10-minute climb up 300 wooden steps. Although the hike is challenging, its mesmerising view is worth all the exercise.
As part of the Coral Triangle, Pianemo is also home to some of the most unique and lively marine animals, all securely thriving among the comfort of colourful reefs. Swim or observe while snorkelling with manta rays and wobbegong sharks.
Whether you’re hiking to breathtaking viewpoints, diving among vibrant coral reefs, or cruising between its scattered islets, Pianemo delivers an unparalleled yachting experience.
