Eleuthera Yacht Charter
An island home to the “narrowest place on Earth”
Eleuthera: A ribbon-thin stretch of paradise
In Greek, Eleuthera means "Freedom," which couldn't be more fitting for an island offering a sense of escape. You don't visit Eleuthera for its nightlife or parties; instead, you go here for pure de-stressing and reconnecting with nature. There are enough restaurants and bars on the island as there are enough beaches and places to explore for a whole week onboard your superyacht charter.
Although just 180 kilometers long, this island is steeped in history and culture, with roots dating back to 1648, when Eleuthera was founded by British settlers seeking freedom. Today, things are changing, with Disney Cruises developing tourism in the area as the Eleuthera lighthouse becomes one of their stops. But still, the lush hills, pineapple fields, and powdery sands remain untouched and stunning.
Harbour Island is one of the most touristy destinations on the island, known for being a magnet for the superyacht crowd. Still, it is where most action happens, as you can find gourmet restaurants, hotels, and boutiques everywhere. Governor's Harbour is a must-visit, too, being the capital of Eleuthera and the largest town on the island. It is here where you can learn more about the island's history. Then, the Glass Window Bridge, known as the "narrowest place on earth," will give you a full view of the dark blue Atlantic Ocean and the turquoise water of the Caribbean. Just south of the Queen's Bath is a natural limestone pool formed by the Atlantic wave. The pools here fill up during high tide, and then the sun warms up the water, making it perfect for soaking.
But the best part of Eleuthera is you can't go wrong anchoring at any beaches throughout the island as they are all picture-perfect paradise. Each of the beaches here has its personality. For instance, Surfer's Beach, just 2 miles from Gregory town, is the best location to surf on the island. Located in Gregory Town itself is Lover's Beach, considered one of the most secluded in Eleuthera. Also, because Lover's Beach is on the Atlantic side of the island, you will find darker blue water here.
French Leave Beach or Club Med Beach in Governor's Harbour is also one of the favorites because it is an accessible stretch of white sand beach. If you want a beach spot for a picnic, then you will love Double Bay Beach in Savannah Sound. Just north of here is Ten Bay Beach, which is more popular for yacht charters with kids aboard as the waters here are significantly shallow. Another option for a beach with shallow water is the Rainbow Bay Beach.
On the other hand, if you're into more exhilarating activities like scuba diving and snorkeling, then Twin Cove Beach is for you. Another one is jumping and swimming in the Sapphire Blue Hole north of Eleuthera. Here, you can experience a 20-foot jump and climb a rope ladder.
The prime months to visit Eleuthera are December through April, when there are fewer chances of rain, and the weather is pleasant, with mild temperatures ranging from 25°C to 27°C. Begin your journey in Eleuthera now by exploring the luxury superyachts available for charter.
