East Africa Yacht Charter
A place where the savannah meets the sea, with Zanzibar's white beaches and nearby islands, and the great migration in the Serengeti.
East Africa: The Wild Heart of Africa
East Africa is an untamed yachting paradise. It is one the only places where the savannah meets the sea. Yachting here is an experience that combines luxury with the wild, from Zanzibar's white beaches and nearby islands to the biggest wildlife migration in Serengeti. Altogether, this region of Africa is entirely of pure adventure and discoveries.
As the epicentre of Africa's wildlife, East Africa is home to several thrilling adventures inland and off the coast. Sail to Zanzibar, where the centuries-old Stone Town, a UNESCO site, reflects the Persian and Omani past of the island and the beaches line dhows, traditional wooden sailing boats still in use today. While the Mafia Islands are ideal for seeing whale sharks from October to March, Pemba Island hides quiet coves and some of the most bio-diverse dive spots nearby. Saadani National Park, heading south, is the only site on Earth where you could wake up on your yacht and start a safari within minutes, seeing lions prowling just beyond the shore. Climb the misty peaks of Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda, home of the remaining mountain gorillas, or venture inland to see the Great Migration in the Serengeti. See Pangani on Tanzania's coast, where old Swahili ruins whisper the mysteries of a past or go through Tsingy de Bemaraha, a bizarre forest of limestone spires, for a real off-the-grid adventure.
Here in East Africa, the list of things to do is limitless. The Indian Ocean's deep sea, golden beaches, ancient ruins, and untamed wilderness will surely leave anyone exhilarated. Explore the region's mix of luxury, history, and raw natural beauty with our list of Luxury Yacht Charters Available.
When?
East Africa has good maritime conditions all year round, but the best sailing winds occur from June to October during the region’s dry season. Consider going during regional events, like The Great Migration in Serengeti, which happens from December to March in the south, and June to October in the north, or whale watching in Zanzibar from October to March.
